Painting the Stories of Life

Raymond A. Simon is a contemporary American artist working in the tradition of the great European allegorical painters. Masters such as Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Pieter Bruegel, and Peter Paul Rubens worked on a grand scale and for popular audiences. Today their works are rarified treasures beyond price. But in their days these masterworks were primarily ways to teach ordinary folks—visual texts to educate people often unable to read for themselves.  Many of his paintings are accompanies with an audio file, ultimately becoming and educational exhibit,

Simon’s audiences of course are highly literate, and have more access to books than did the people who four hundred years ago stood before huge wall or ceiling- covering paintings recalling biblical, classical, and political stories. For Simon, paintings are not substitutes for reading. Quite the opposite—they become an exhortation to read more, learn more, do more and become more—they invite the viewer to dive deep and learn all you can, and that way enhance your own understanding of his subjects, American history, and of our nation.

Ray has joined forces with companies throughout the country to gift over 5,000 personalized framed prints to men, women, and families who lost a loved one in the ongoing fight in the Middle East.

We are excited about Ray’s latest painting ‘The Awakening: The Best is Yet to Come’ which captures the spirit and legacy of our 45th president.

Amazing Talent!

Ray, having you put your art on a canvas and then explain it, is amazing and always so interesting. Your gift from God is your talent and ability to display it.

Looks like masterful work by a great artist.

Phenomenal!

Just one of his most phenomenal pieces! I’ve never met anybody that is so passionate and wants to make sure there is a story in his art! Not just throwing paint on a canvas.

Great American you are, Ray – like the people you paint.

Absolutely beautiful!!!

You are so talented. Such an amazing gift you have!!

Unbelievable!

There is no limit to your talent. How you put into your paintings the ultimate nature of each subject is unbelievable! God has blessed you and never stop sharing your talents with us.
